Environmental policy
The foundation for SeaRail’s environmental policy is a consideration of environmental issues in all our operations. SeaRail promotes sustainable development by providing and developing effective transport solutions with minimal environmental impact.
Environmental management
Environmental management is part of SeaRail’s comprehensive management system. This system is also supported by our quality system based on ISO 9001 standard. We observe all valid legislation and regulations in our operations. The methods of operation are evaluated regularly, and by observing ISO 14001 standard, we strive to make continuous improvements to minimize the resulting environmental load. The management system extends to all company operations in Finland, and the aim for the future is to expand the system to all other company offices as well.
Environmentally friendly transports
We prevent environmental contamination with the help of effective transport planning and consideration of the environmental impacts of all acquisitions and the flow of information. Our main objective is to use natural resources sparingly, improve the efficient use of energy, reduce emissions and enhance waste recycling.
When concluding subcontracts, we try to give priority to those companies that have systematic and comprehensive procedures for managing environmental issues emissions, and are, at the same time, still capable of offering competitive and quality services. The environmental management of the subcontractors and its development are monitored regularly.
In order to reduce the total environmental load, our goal is to utilise quality production and efficient marketing to convince transport service purchasers to shift from forms of transport that have a greater impact on the environment to the railway transport services provided by SeaRail.
Commitment to environmental work
The company management provides the necessary resources and encourages our personnel and partners to commit to our environmental objectives by providing the necessary information and training. Every SeaRail employee must observe the company’s environmental policy and be accountable for the environmental impact of their own work.
